Optimism....is it fleeting, does it feel within reach but you can't quite grasp it, or is it ever present in varying degrees?

I recently read a quote which has got me thinking.... can I, or do I, hold on to optimism in the ever present?

“Let everything happen to you : beauty and terror.

Just keep going.

No feeling is final”

Rainer Maria Rilke

It’s 3 months since I returned from India after studying Vedic Astrology. My 6 weeks in Rishikesh started the process for me to pull back the veil and really see myself – no illusions, no false promises, no hiding. I’ve done it before, trying to understand the direction my life has taken through the challenges and chaos, love and joy, messiness and the heaviness, the full heart and acceptance, and how I show up in life from my lived experiences. This time was different.

There’s something I feel, and connect with in India. It’s different to how I feel and connect with wherever I’m living. I’m not sure I can put it into words. It’s a felt sense of expansion, openness, clarity and peace. It’s an understanding. A quiet sense of optimism for what’s to come. And being okay with not knowing what that might be.

I really believe that studying my own Jyotish (Vedic Astrology) chart has shone a bright light on my dharma – my unique path in this life, the duty and responsibilities that are being asked of me, and my life purpose. When I align with my dharma (true calling) life flows; decisions are made, there’s ease in relationships, relevant action is taken, calmness is a constant state....there’s a certain sense of optimism.

My planetary placements emphasise challenges I may encounter in areas of my life, where and when expansion and growth can take place, the flow of abundance – slow and steady or here today and gone tomorrow. The chart illuminates a lot - what I’m here to learn and experience; the natural gifts I have (some are obvious, others not so!); how the moon affects my mind and emotions; why I may struggle with the way I communicate in different situations; how I can strengthen my resolve to take action when I’m questioning the likely outcome....I allow myself to feel optimistic.

Looking back at different periods of planetary influence I can see why I lost loved ones, why my career path changed, why I’m drawn to India and Vedic knowledge, why I am alone at this time of my life. I’m grateful for all that I’ve experienced, even the times when pessimism and doubt was a constant. I have a clearer vision of where I’m heading – there’s lot to do!

Optimism is about trusting that all is as it should be. The hard times and the beauty – we must feel it all. And keep going – no feeling is final.

Yes, I can hold onto optimism in the ever present.  I hope you can too.

If you are curious about learning more about your planetary placements at the time of your birth, give me a call.
