2019 is quickly coming to an end. Wondering what the new decade will look like? Are you excited to welcome in the new? Yep, I am.
Over the next couple of weeks I intend to review not only the last 12 months, but also the last decade. I want to look back, review, acknowledge and embrace the lessons learnt. The good, the bad and the very ugly. My decade was definitely about impermanence – understanding it, living it, coming to terms with it and as the decade wound up, even embracing it.
I’m sure we will all agree that this decade presented us with lots of challenges. That’s life….
My biggest challenge left me feeling like I was cast adrift. Other times felt like I was swimming against the tide. My catch-cry became “I’m out of my comfort zone again”. There were dark moments when I doubted I would feel whole again. There were many times I questioned my sanity. There was personal despair. I asked many questions of myself. In the end, I found myself, made peace with myself and discovered what is important to me, today.
As the New Year approaches I realize I am stronger than I knew. Resilience, empowerment, inner strength and confidence have become my new vocabulary. Life will continue to be thrilling and fearful like being on a roller-coaster ride. It will also flow smoothly and peacefully like a bird of prey being carried away on a thermal air current.
The one constant that helps me to navigate life is Yoga. I continue to learn; to be inspired. I’m looking forward to seeing how my practice unfolds this next year, and how this impacts on my teaching.
